Cookie policy

A complete list of what this site stores on your device, what each item is for, and how to remove it. The list is short by design.
What a cookie is, briefly
A cookie is a small text file a site asks your browser to keep, so that it can remember something between page loads. Closely related are localStorage and sessionStorage, which store values in your browser without sending them to a server. This page covers all three, because from your point of view the distinction that matters is “something is being remembered”, not the technical mechanism.
Consent comes before anything non-essential
When you first arrive, a banner asks how you want to be treated. Nothing advertising-related happens before you answer:
- Essential only — the site works normally. No advertising script is loaded, and no advertising cookie is set.
- Accept all — the Google AdSense script is loaded and may set advertising cookies as described below.
This is enforced by not loading the third-party script at all until you accept, rather than by loading it and asking it to behave.
What this site stores
Strictly necessary — set without consent
| Name | Type | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|
craftlykit:cookie-consent | localStorage | Remembers the choice you made in the banner, so it does not ask on every page. | Until you clear site data |
craftlykit:intro-seen | sessionStorage | Records that the opening animation has already played, so it does not repeat while you browse. | Until the tab is closed |
Both are stored only in your browser. Neither is transmitted anywhere, and neither identifies you.
Analytics — only after you accept
| Set by | Purpose | More information |
|---|---|---|
| Google Analytics 4 (`_ga`, `_ga_*`) | Counting page views and distinguishing one visit from another, in aggregate. Not used to identify you. | Google Analytics opt-out add-on |
Choosing “essential only” means the Google Analytics script is never loaded at all, so these cookies are never created.
Advertising — only after you accept
| Set by | Purpose | More information |
|---|---|---|
| Google AdSense | Serving ads, measuring their performance, limiting how often you see the same ad, and detecting fraudulent clicks. | Google advertising policies |
| Google DoubleClick (DART) | Serving ads based on prior visits to this and other sites. | Opt out of the DART cookie |
| Google advertising partners | Third parties within Google’s network may also serve ads and set their own cookies. | How Google uses partner site data |
Changing your mind
Your choice is stored in your own browser, so it is removed the same way anything else in your browser is:
- Open your browser’s settings for site data or privacy.
- Find craftlykit.com in the list of sites.
- Clear its data.
The banner will then appear again on your next visit and you can answer differently. Nothing else about the site changes.
You can also block third-party cookies globally in every major browser. This site remains fully functional if you do — the only effect is on the ads, not on the tools, games, or writing.
Cookies on other CraftlyKit sites
TabVault has its own site at extensions.craftlykit.com, and OdDraw will have one at games.craftlykit.com when it launches. Each is a separate site with its own storage, and this policy covers craftlykit.com only.
The TabVault extension itself is a separate matter again: it stores your saved tabs, categories, scroll positions and video timestamps in your own browser, and sends none of it anywhere. That is a design decision rather than a cookie setting, and it does not depend on anything you choose in the banner on this site.
